I have never used a projector before i guess was looking for the right product to come. Well this is it. I am amazed, thrilled by the screen size and i haven't installed the ALR screen yet just watching on a wall. Brightness is at its peak, picture quality is great. Black levels are not up to the point during dark scenes but i'll take it. It's good to have Android tv. Great Product.

This was the first time I've had a projector in my house, so since I was curious about it, I thought I'd include a picture of what it looks like in the box they ship it in.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the product. It has some shortfalls in very specific scenarios (being next to a window that is hit with morning sun).

Unfortunately, I was never contacted by Hisense for the free installation promotion, so I used it without a screen for a while, but this gives a chance for someone curious to see how it looks in the second image.

The blacks are much blacker with the screen, but dark scenes can can suffer in the mornings with the sun is directly outside of the window (even with the blinds closed) as you'll see in the third image. This was a particularly bad dark scene, most lighter parts don't look like this.

Once it's closer to noon, the image improves quite a bit which you can see in the last picture.

This laser projector and screen is a great buy for the price. The screen is really easy to put together. Took me about 30 min to do by myself and only needed another person to help when laying out the screen and to lift up onto the wall. Otherwise can be done easily with one person. Setting up the laser projector is a little more difficult but the key is to have it sitting at the right height from the screen. I am waiting on my media console to arrive so I will need to re-align again once it arrives. Overall great picture and great product would definitely buy again and projectorscreen.com has been great with customer service.

Hisense - an OK proposition for the price

Ultimately, the projector has some major quarks that I would argue do not justify the value proposition. If I were to repeat a purchase, I would likely go with Samsung and would 100% get a UST projector with a proper focus mode for resizing the screen. The projector supports something called geometric correction for minor adjustments on a fixed 120" screen size. What's not advertised is that any use of the geometric correction will cause a halo like effect on the screen. There's light bleed through on all edges. This effect is non-existent on ANY of my other high end projectors and seems to be a unique experience for me with this. It's completely undesirable and is extremely unattractive (see my screenshot as a reference). If the projector is not aligned PERFECTLY, this is the result.. which is terrible. Beyond the harsh restrictions of the geometric correction, there's also major problems regarding eARC support. However the projector separates and processes eARC (even when audio is set to passthrough), the chipsets clearly cannot handle it. It does cause major lip sync delays. I personally solved this issue by purchasing an HDFury device and separating eARC audio before it gets to the projector. A terrible solution for such a pricy product. I do also wish they sold these projectors without the built in speaker as I don't honestly see anyone purchasing a device like this and using the speaker, but clearly they think it adds a value proposition (one I do not see). Regarding colors, it's ok. Brightness is where the sweet spot is at for living room usage and the bundled cinema screen is perfect for bright rooms with lots of light bleed. Gaming has low latency and is very nice. Other than that, the geometric correction and eARC limitations/issues are the heavy hitters that do make me recommend alternatives over this.

Recently got my Hisense L9G about a week ago and I don’t think I would go back to a regular television. Great brightness contrast and picture clarity. The Dolby audio is great for the size of the unit. Set up was pretty easy but need to make sure to follow instructions carefully. Overall great product and most of all GREAT customer service when I called projectorscreen.com for support. I will be coming back for all my theater electronic needs.
